Help stop the elimination of key homeless youth services from the state budget!

Proposed state budget cuts threaten to eliminate crucial assistance to homeless youth, including YouthCare’s entire Street Outreach program and half of our emergency shelter beds for youth under 18.  On Monday, the Seattle Times featured an Op-Ed written by YouthCare’s Executive Director, Melinda Giovengo, ringing the alarm about these possible cuts.  Check out the Op-Ed, and then take action!  Write to Governor Gregoire easily using our template, and urge her not to allow these programs (which result in a net gain for state taxpayers) to be eliminated!

Here’s the Template Letter to Christine Gregoire

“When I started the Barista Training Employment Program I was living on the streets and getting by day to day. Now I’m working full time, have my own apartment, and I even opened a bank account. The Barista Program helped me to see that I can get where I want to go with my life.”
