Year-Round Giving
YouthCare receives overwhelming support from our community during the Holiday Season (thank you!), but the needs of our youth are year-round. Please consider organizing a community drive to collect items. Click here for a list of needed items.
Be creative. Have your friends bring donations to a get-together. Encourage your co-workers to bring toiletries to a collection box at your office. Here are some ideas to get you started:
1. Gather your people.
If you’re coordinating a gift or clothing drive with a group, get everyone together to talk about YouthCare and why donations are needed, and to divide up jobs. The more people involved, the more successful your drive will be. We are happy to provide you with YouthCare brochures and other incentives and collateral.
2. Tell everyone you know.
Most people want to donate, they just need to be asked! You can send emails, letters, postcards, hang flyers, post on Web sites, etc. The more creative the better. Also, make sure that you mention the drive at meetings or other gatherings. We can provide you with a template into which you can insert your drive-specific information.
3. Make it easy to donate.
Have a central location for people to drop off their items. You can also collect items during a holiday party or office gathering. For office or school drives, make sure you have collection boxes in several locations. Running out of time to shop? Monetary donations, including gift cards, are always welcome.
4. Deliver your donations to YouthCare.
YouthCare’s administrative offices are open Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm. Contact Mary Crandell at 206-267-3076 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if it’s not possible to deliver during these times.
5. Celebrate your successes!
Be sure to thank your donors (YouthCare can help with that!) and let them know how much your group gathered for donations. Photos are great, too! Be sure to get a photo of your volunteers with their boxes full of socks, coats and more.
And thank you for your support of YouthCare! Through community gift and clothing drives, you not only collect much needed items for youth and young adults, but you also raise the awareness of the challenges facing them.
