What They Need Now

Seasonal drives are crucial to helping us meet immediate needs. You can make an individual donation or host a community drive to collect items essential to this mission. If you'd like to plan farther ahead, check out our upcoming drives calendar.

Basic Supplies Drive

Warm clothing collected for YouthCare

At this moment, there are hundreds of youth on our streets who lack the simple necessities for staying warm and dry. We can hope and strive to get every one of them off the streets some day and on the path to rebuilding a shattered life. Until then, though, we need to keep them as healthy as we can under the conditions they're enduring. Thermal socks, new underwear, backpacks and sleeping bags: simple things like this spell survival — in this cold, wet season and over the long run.

Your gift today of new and gently used clothing and supplies provides these most vulnerable young people a measure of comfort and protection against the grinding effects of homelessness. Their most urgent current needs include:

  • New underwear (bikini-style for women; boxers for men)
  • New socks (athletic and thermal)
  • Alarm clocks
  • Backpacks
  • Bus passes
  • Gift cards (Grocery stores, Target, Fred Meyer, etc.)

Last winter, as one example, we distributed 800 pairs of socks each week via our street outreach team and drop-in services at the Orion Center. Help us keep up with this year's heightened demand by donating today.

You can also give directly by visiting our wish list on Amazon.com. Items will be shipped directly to us!
